EasyJet announces flights to Israel
British budget airline will operate daily flight between Ben Gurion Airport and London starting this upcoming November. Prices will start from £40.99 (about $66) for one way ticket from Tel Aviv to Luton Airport
The low-fares British airline easyJet announced Wednesday that it will expand service to Israel starting this November. The planned Tel Aviv-London route will include six round trip flights every week between Ben Gurion Airport and Luton Airport.
The slated start date for the expanded service is November 2. Flights will operate every day of the week except Fridays.
According to company reports, ticket prices will be about half the price of those offered by traditional airlines. The reported prices will start from £40.99 (about $66) for a one way ticket from Tel Aviv to London and £71.99 (about $115) for a one way ticket from London to Tel Aviv.
Andy Harrison, easyJet's chief executive, said, "This is a major breakthrough. For the first time the traveling public in Tel Aviv have the choice between a high cost traditional airline and a low-cost alternative.”
“We look forward to bringing our unique blend of low fares with friendly service to Israel’s market," Harrison noted.
EasyJet currently operates 437 routes between 111 airports in 28 countries. The company has 175 airplanes in its fleet.
