Felix Halfon sustains moderate wounds after being shot near Tel Aviv nightclub

Former soccer star Felix Halfon sustained serious wounds early Friday after being shot near a Tel Aviv nightclub.

Meanwhile, police detained two Tel Aviv brothers, aged 20 and 23, on suspicion of involvement in the incident.

Police and MDA recieved a report around 3:45 AM about shots fired near a southern Tel Aviv club. Halfon was shot by an assailant on a motorcycle after leaving the nightclub. According to one eyewitness, Halfon confronted the shooter and his friend before being attacked.

Investigators seized the security footage from cameras installed outside the club to check whether the incident was documented.

An eyewitness told Ynet: "We were in our car and we saw Felix Halfon with a few people and two girls next to him…based on the way he was shot at, it doesn't seem they tried to kill him, but rather, only hurt his lower body. The girls who were here started to cry. Many people were walking around there at the time and could have been wounded."

The 37-year-old Halfon is a former member of Israel's national soccer time. In 2003 he was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for drug smuggling. He was released from jail after 3 years.
