BdiCoface, the largest business information group in Israel, published its top-500 companies for 2008 list Sunday for the fifth year running.
The report names Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Israel's top company, with Israel Chemicals following and Israel Electric Corp. rounding up the top three.
Delek Petroleum was named as Israel's fourth most successful company, Bezeq Telecommunication followed in fifth place, Oil Refineries came in sixth, Israel Aerospace Industries ranked seventh and rounding up the top-10 were Alon Israel Oil Company (8), Elbit Systems (9) and Paz gas and energy (10).
BDI said the financial crisis was taking a notable toll on the companies' business activities, but despite the recession, the Israeli market's top-500 companies have increased staff positions by 6%.
The top-500 also enjoyed a 7% increase in revenues, although BDI analysts qualified the data as relating to the first half of 2008, when the market experienced positive growth.
