says Israel
would reject any European demand pertaining to construction in Jerusalem.
The official, who is traveling with Netanyahu's entourage to Europe, said the prime minister would tell the European leaders that pressure should be placed on the Iranian regime in order to stop its nuclear proliferation.
Netanyahu left for Europe on Monday afternoon, where he will meet US envoy George Mitchell, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and his British counterpart Gordon Brown.

He said this was one of the subjects brought up at Netanyahu's meeting with French President Nicolas Sarkozy Sunday evening.
The official said he expected only moderate progress in the meetings, but was clear on the issue of Jerusalem. "The prime minister will explain during his meetings in London and Berlin that Israel will not accept any limitation on its sovereignty over Jerusalem," he said.
The prime minister stressed before taking off that in addition to the initiation of a peace process with the Palestinians, "We must also take care of the regular needs of the settlers in Judea and Samaria, even if the process is initiated in the end of September."
