The Jerusalem District Court has been handed an indictment against Nachman Inshin, charged with murdering his infant daughter Fruma two weeks ago.
The indictment, filed Thursday by the Jerusalem District Prosecution, claims that after murdering Fruma, Inshin yelled to neighbors banging on his door that "she is in my hands, slaughtered like a chicken".
According to the indictment, on the night of the murder, at around 11:30 pm, Inshin returned to his home and demanded that his wife have sex with him. When she refused, he phoned his father, who promised to visit the couple as soon as possible. The woman called her mother to complain of her husband's violent behavior, but Inshin snatched the phone from her hands and told her, "You are not talking to anyone now; now we are at home together."
At this point, reads the indictment, Inshin threatened to step out to the street and yell out that he is the messiah. His wife then called for help from the apartment's balcony, and in response Inshin locked her in the balcony. He eventually let her back into the apartment and yelled at her "Who are you? Who am I?" and threatened to kill her if she did not respond. The frightened woman responded by saying she was his wife, and Inshin said, "Calm down, calm down, everything is fine."
'She's already dead'
The wife told the defendant that Fruma was sleeping in her bed and then fled the apartment holding her eldest daughter. Inshin locked the front door, and the wife, who was in the stairwell, screamed, "Help! There is a girl inside. My husband has gone mad; he will do something to her."
Neighbors who heard the shouting alerted police, who tried to force the door open and urged Inshin not to harm the infant. Some of the neighbors climbed the drainpipe at the side of the building and tried to enter the apartment through the balcony, but Inshin locked the balcony door and closed the shutter.
He then took his daughter from her bed and began pacing back and forth in the apartment while telling neighbors outside the front door to "go away." When they asked him to open the door, Inshin said, "She's in my arms – slaughtered like a chicken".
A Civil Guard volunteer told Inshin, "Open the door so I can take the girl," but Inshin yelled back, "The girl is already dead".
The prosecution claims that it was at this point that the defendant decided to murder his daughter. He grabbed Fruma's left foot, recited a verse from the Book of Psalms and slammed her head against the floor six or seven times.
The plaintiff then carried his daughter's body to his bedroom and wrapped a blanket around it.
One of the men who had climbed onto the balcony managed to enter the apartment and open the front door. Inshin said to police officers who entered the apartment, "What are you doing here? What do you want from me?" He told them that he had not harmed his daughter and that she was asleep. Officers began searching the flat and found Fruma's body a short while later.
