Palestinians: 3 hurt in IDF strike in southern Gaza

Gaza sources report Air Force aircraft fired three missiles at tunnels, three additional missiles at old Dahaniyeh airport

Three Palestinians were injured Tuesday night in an Israel Air Force strike in the southern Gaza Strip, Palestinian sources said.

According to the report, IAF aircraft fired three missiles at the tunnel area near the Gaza-Egypt border and three additional missiles at the old airport in Dahaniyeh.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit confirmed that Israeli aircraft attacked two tunnels in south Gaza. One of the tunnels was meant to be used to carry out a terror attack, while the other was used to smuggle weapons into the coastal enclave, the army said.

The attacks were carried out in retaliation for the attempt to detonate explosive barrels on Israel's southern beaches and in response to the rocket fire on Israel's Negev region.

The attack took place several hours after a Qassam rocket hit an open area in Eshkol Regional Council. There were no reports of injuries or damage. The Color Red alert system was activated at around 3 pm Tuesday, followed by a loud blast.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has conveyed several warnings to the Palestinian organizations in Gaza. The prime minister said at the start of a recent cabinet meeting that "the government's policy is clear – every firing, of rockets or in general, will be dealt with harshly."
