American fashion brand the Gap will be opening its flagship store in Azrieli Center in Tel Aviv on February 21, 2010, Elbit Trade and Retail CEO Arik Ben Zino announced on Wednesday.
The Tel Aviv store will be the chain's second to open in Israel, following the opening of the first Gap store in Jerusalem last year.
The store will span an area of some 650 square meters (roughly 7,000 square feet), and décor will be in line with the brand's global clean-cut concept and based on the colors blue and white.
The launch of the Tel Aviv store will be accompanied by an advertising campaign under the slogan: "Hello Tel Aviv". The campaign will be concentrated in Tel Aviv and its surroundings, and will include advertising on 16 central walls, such as walls along the Ayalon Freeway, direct marketing, and an interactive internet campaign.
"I am proud and excited to announce the official opening of the Gap store in Tel Aviv, the fashion capital of Israel," Ben-Zino said. "Some six months ago we launched the Gap brand in Jerusalem, and now we are bringing the brand to the Tel Avivians as well, ahead of the opening of additional stores throughout the country."
The Gap chain has over 3,100 stores in the US, Britain, Canada, France, Japan and Ireland. Elbit Trade and Retail holds the franchise rights to the brand in Israel.
In addition to the Gap, Elbit Trade and Retail holds the rights to Spanish fashion giant Mango, which has 26 stores in Israel.
