Qassam hits near Negev kibbutz

Day after foreign worker killed in Netiv Ha'asara, another rocket fired from Gaza; no injuries, damage

The rocket fire emanating from Gaza continued on Friday, as a Qassam launched from the northern part of the Hamas-ruled territory landed in an open area near a kibbutz within the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council's limits. There were no reports of injury or damage.

The rocket was the fourth that was fired towards Israel in the past two days after a period of relative calm.

Thursday's Qassam attack killed a foreign worker in Netiv Ha'asara.

Deputy Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai said Thursday that Israel holds Hamas accountable for attacks originating in the Gaza Strip regardless of the group that commits them.

"Israel is not interested in a military confrontation, but will not allow attacks on its citizens. Hamas must prevent any and all attacks on Israel to avoid a deterioration of the situation," he said.

IDF aircraft struck at least four targets in Gaza late Friday in retaliation for the deadly rocket attack.

The Palestinians reported that two people were lightly injured in the strikes, whose targets included a smuggling tunnel along the border with Egypt, two open areas in Khan Younis and a metal foundry near Gaza City.
