Amdocs selects SAP to replace its systems
SAP edges out Oracle to replace Amodcs information system at cost of $50-100 million
In a deal worth at least $50 million, Israeli software giant Amdocs has selected SAP to replace its information systems with new ones, Calcalist reported Monday.
Amdoc's systems, which serve numerous cellular operators around the world – including AT&T, Vodafone, Comcast and Sprint Nextel – will be replaced over the next three years.
The company's core, resource management, project management, business intelligence, budget management, human resources and acquisitions systems will all be replaced. Both companies view the deal as strategic, and the agreement was personally signed by the CEOs of Amdocs and SAP.
Oracle also vied for the tender issued by Amdocs, though SAP was selected because its systems are better suited for Amdocs's work formation, which is characterized by project management and services provided by the hour.
“It's not about how hard it is for Oracle, because it never had all of the systems that Amdocs requested,” a senior source in the IT industry told Calcalist.
