Oliver Stone apologizes for 'Jewish lobby' remarks

American film director tells ADL national director he is 'categorically opposed to anti-Semitism – and all other racist ideologies'

American film director Oliver Stone apologized to the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) on Wednesday for blaming "Jewish domination of the media" for Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust not being put "in context."

Stone made the apology after the Jewish group issued a statement saying his initial apology was insufficient, especially his comments about the power of the Jewish lobby.

Following the statement, Stone told ADL's National Director Abraham H. Foxman, “I do agree that it was wrong of me to say that Israel or the pro-Israel lobby is to blame for America’s flawed foreign policy. Of course that’s not true and I apologize that my inappropriately glib remark has played into that negative stereotype.”

He added, “I want you to know that I am categorically opposed to anti-Semitism – and all other racist ideologies.”

Foxman welcomed the apology, saying, “I believe he now understands the issues and where he was wrong, and this puts an end to the matter.”
