Singer Moshe Peretz suspected of tax evasion

Peretz questioned by Tax Authority on suspicion of failing to report all income, mostly from concerts. Singer Kobi Peretz investigated last March

Singer Moshe Peretz was interrogated Monday by the Israel Tax Authority on suspicion of tax evasion, Calcalist reported.

Peretz is suspected of failing to report parts of his income, mostly from concerts. Peretz was recently signed as Carrera Sunglasses’ new spokesperson.

This is not the first time this year that a successful Israeli singer has been taken in for questioning. In March this year, Kobi Peretz was interrogated on suspicion of omitting NIS 5 million ($1.33 million) income from concerts that he and his manger failed to report.

At the time, the Tax Authority announced that it planned to question other artists suspected of failing to declare appropriately to the income tax.

Moshe Peretz’s representative said in response that the singer and his personal manager "were summoned for a routine book inspection. As Moshe Peretz pays his taxes lawfully, we are certain that the inspection will be concluded to everyone’s satisfaction.”
