Israel Internet Association launches three-month early registration for URLs in Hebrew with '.il' country code, after which registration will be open to general public
The Israel Internet Association has begun an early registration process for website addresses in Hebrew with the ".il" country code, Calcalist reported Monday.
The process, which will take three months, is aimed at preventing potential legal wrangling when the new addresses are launched.
During the early registration, companies, non-profit organizations and other commercial bodies may request specific URLs in Hebrew.
At the conclusion of the three month early registration process, the option to register a Hebrew URL will be open to the general public, and any address that was not reserved in the early registration phase will be available, as long as it meets the Association's conditions.
At present, only addresses with the ".il" country code are available, but in the coming months the country code will also be available in Hebrew.
