Twenty-one young Jews from around the world, all members of Tzabar scout unit, enlist to IDF paratrooper regiment after being absorbed into Kibbutzim Movement

Twenty one young Jews from around the world, members of the Tzabar unit of the scouts movement, enlisted over the past few days into the Israel Defense Forces Paratroopers Brigade after experiencing a few months of absorption into Israeli society on various Kibbutzim around the country.

Avi Everclyde, 20, was born and raised in Bolivia. He arrived in Israel four months ago within the framework of the 'Tzabar' unit to Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak, and last Thursday reported for duty at the IDF induction center with his 'Tzabar' unit friends in order to enlist in the paratrooper regiment.

"My grandparents are Holocaust survivors", he explained with emotion. "I grew up with their stories and knew that I wanted to serve in the army and defend the Jewish country. My parents who stayed in Bolivia are very scared, but also very proud", he said.

Rudy Avrahami, 21, who through the Tzabar unit, has been staying at Kibbutz Baram, made aliyah from France in order to enlist and serve on a combat unit in the IDF. "I'm the first of my family who has made aliyah", he said with pride. "When I told my family what I meant to do they were very scared, but now they are extremely happy and proud.

"I grew up in the Paris suburbs, in an area that is very tough for Jews to live in. To the Arabs there, if you are Jewish you are automatically Israeli. I told myself that if that is the way they see me, and then I really will be Israeli and come and defend my country. I volunteered for service in the paratroopers and I hope to make it from there to the elite Duvdevan unit", he said.
