Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Tuesday expressed willingness to open peace negotiations with Syria but stated that "there is no justification for Israel giving up the Golan Heights."
In meetings with foreign diplomats Lieberman said: "Sadly the Syrians desperately want to talk about peace but do not truly seek peace. They want a peace process in order to receive western legitimacy." The foreign minister claimed that Bashar Assad's only goal is to maintain the rule of his dynasty. (Ronen Medzini)
