World famous opera singer José Carreras landed in Israel
on Monday for his first perofrmance in the Holy Land. Carreras will perform in Tel Aviv's Nokia Arena on Thursday, and will be accompanied by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, IBA.
Rehearsals will take place in the next two days in Jerusalem, while the general rehearsal will be held on Thursday at the Nokia Arena, where a huge stage is being built to accommodate dozens of instrumentalists and singers.
Carreras arrived in Israel together with soprano Natalia Kovalova, who sings in the Düsseldorf Opera House. The delegation was joined by Spanish conductor David Giménez and conductor Arkady Berin, who lives and works in Germany.

Special sound preparations are also being held, in accordance with the famous opera singer's demands.
Carreras expressed his excitement upon his arrival, saying that he was interested in visiting Jerusalem. On Wednesday he plans to visit the Old City, accompanied by a Spanish-speaking guide.
The show is being sponsored by the Spanish Embassy in Israel and will mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Israel and Spain. There are only few tickets left for the concert.
