King David offers new presidential suite
Jerusalem hotel's new luxurious set of rooms meets demands of Israeli and international security organizations, including bullet-proof windows, protective walls and special locks
Independent electricity and internet systems, bullet-proof windows, protective walls and special locks, turning it into an isolated fortress, are only part of what awaits a distinguished guest visiting the King David Hotel's new presidential suite.
The suite was built according to plans and demands of security organizations across the world, including Israel, in order to accommodate heads of state at times of ongoing acts of terror.
This set of rooms measures about 200 square meters (2,153 square feet) in size, and joins the hotel's two other presidential suites which are not highly protected.
The suite includes a huge living room, a luxurious master bedroom, two connecting rooms for security guards or servants, a kitchenette, a bathroom, a meeting room, a sauna, a Jacuzzi and other facilities.
But the highlight is the high level of fortification, which isolated the suite from all other rooms on the same floor, with complete external supervision on everything taking place around and inside the room.
The communication system is multi-linear and is independent from the hotel's communication system. The suite also has independent internet and air conditioning systems, and other sensors and security systems of the best quality.
The suite was built as part of a complete renovation taking place on the King David's fifth and sixth floors at a total cost of more than NIS 25 million (about $7 million). Guests interested in staying in the luxurious set of rooms will be forced to part from at least $6,000 a night.
