The festival will include performances by Israeli artists and groups active in Israel and in the United States.
The presence of Israeli artists of different fields in New York is nothing new, but Israeli choreographers and dance groups have yet to conquer the American cultural capital.
The Contemporary Israeli Dance Week, which opens on June 8 for four days, will include the work of Arkadi Zaides, Idan Cohen, Yossi Berg and Oded Graf, Maya Brinner, Maya Stern and Tomer Sharabi, who are active in Israel.
The New York-based Israeli artists taking part in the festival include Deganit Shemy & Company; YelleB Dance Ensemble, which was founded about five years ago in New York by former Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company dancer Ella Ben-Aharon, Netta Yerushalmy and LeeSaar The Company.
Alongside their performances at the festival, the Israeli artists will also hold open master classes for professional dancers and the wide audience at the New York theater.
The festival will also host the "D for Dimension" video-dance project – a collaboration between film schools in Israel, which present the work of students combining dance films and animation.
