Mossad Director Tamir Pardo has named his new deputy, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Sunday.

Y. who currently heads Tzomet – the organization's operatives unit, will replace R. who served as former Mossad Chief Meir Dagan's deputy. He will begin his term in office in September.

Y.'s nomination has been approved by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The nomination also positions Y. in the running for the position of Mossad chief in the future.

Y. who is in his 50s, is considered a "home grown" appointment, having spent his entire career in the intelligence field in the Mossad.
