Bank Hapoalim helps olim feel at home

Innovative private social network provides intimate meeting place for Nefesh B'Nefesh immigrants and bank employees, where they can share stories and information, helping ease absorption process for new Israeli citizens

Bank Hapoalim has launched a new initiative to help Nefesh B’Nefesh olim feel at home in their new country.

The program, which is targeted specifically to immigrants who arrive through Nefesh B’Nefesh, is designed to connect employees of the bank with new olim through an innovative private social network called Poalim4Nefesh.

The network provides an intimate meeting place for Nefesh B'Nefesh olim and Bank Hapoalim employees where they can share stories and information, helping ease the absorption process for the new Israeli citizens.

Aliyah can often be a challenging process. While the end of the road is a rewarding new life in Israel, there are several speed bumps along the way that need to be addressed. These range from learning a new language, finding employment, and simply taking care of the myriad tasks that come with moving to a new country.

Nefesh B'Nefesh provides olim with a multitude of services that help ease the immigration process, and Bank Hapoalim is stepping up to aid the organization in that goal.

Through the initiative Bank Hapoalim employees will join the Poalim4Nefesh network, and help support the olim as they adjust to life in Israel. The network serves as a virtual home, warm and welcoming, where Olim can find tips from the friendly staff of the bank.

"At Bank Hapoalim we aim to provide the highest level of service we can, not only to our customers but also to the society in which we live," said Eli Cohen, marketing, service and social responsibility manager of Bank Hapoalim.

"We see this collaboration with Nefesh B'Nefesh as a unique opportunity to give back to Israeli society in the most direct way possible, by welcoming new members of Israeli society with open arms and helping them feel at home."

The Poalim4Nefesh site will feel instantly familiar to anyone who has used a social network like Facebook. Users have personal profiles where they can share information about themselves and access forums about various questions that the Olim may have. The Poalim4Nefesh site is much more intimate and personal than other networks since it exists exclusively for Nefesh B'Nefesh olim and Bank Hapoalim employees.

Ultimately, the site has a very simple goal – to extend the hospitality of Israel and of the workforce of Bank Hapoalim to the newest members of Israeli society.

The site went live recently, coinciding with the arrival of Nefesh B'Nefesh Aliyah summer flights. The site is already registering members who are beginning to contribute their thoughts and ideas in anticipation of the arrival of the olim.
