6 arrested in high school brawl

Police forced to intervene when student brawl goes too far. Students use pepper spray, injure principal, teacher and three others

School violence broke new records on Thursday when police were forced to intervene in a massive brawl that broke out in a Shfaram high school between some 15-17 year-old students.

The students used pepper spray which led to three students, a teacher and the principal being injured. Police arrested six students over suspicions of brawling.

The police said that dozens of students were involved in the violent incident. Local police forces were called to the scene as well as Magen David Adom teams who cared for the wounded.

Parents also arrived at the school in an attempt to calm everybody down. One of the parents told Ynet: "This is a very serious incident and an investigation should be launched into how pepper spray was brought onto the premises. This is hazardous to the children and we will not sit idly by. This is negligence."

On Wednesday it was reported that a high school student from Tel Aviv assaulted one of his teachers with pepper spray. The assault happened after the same student locked the teacher in a storeroom and the latter lodged a complaint about it.
