Amnon Yacoby back at Alvarion helm
Anthony Maher, Alvarion's chairman for past seven years, steps down and will be replaced by Yacoby, who has been on company's board of directors from 2001
Yacoby was co-founder and CEO of Floware, which later merged with BreezeCOM to eventually become Alvarion. Yacoby was also co-founder and president of RAD Data Communications.
In addition to Maher's resignation, Brian Protiva has also resigned from Alvarion's board of directors on which he sat since September 2010.
Maher's resignation might possibly be related to Alvarion's recent difficulties, stemming from a decline in profits and its accrued losses. The company's earnings for the first half of 2011 were $101.9 million, similarly to the same period last year, while its loses for the period totaled $5 million.
Currently the company is trying to change its target market: In the past the company's activity focused on the development of WiMAX solutions and the deployment of cellular networks, today the company is trying to enter the institutional market and deals in the deployment of cellular networks in buildings.
