A rocket fired by Palestinian terrorists in northern Gaza Saturday night landed in an open area within the limits of the Eshkol Regional Council in the Negev. There were no reports of injury or damage.
The rocket attack was part of a wave of violence which erupted in the aftermath of the recent targeted killing of Assam Subahi Ismail Batash, a senior Gaza-based terror operative.

According to the IDF and the Shin Bet, Batash was the mastermind behind several terror attacks carried out by militants who infiltrated into Israel from the Sinai Peninsula.
On Thursday, in light of Batash's death, the IDF lowered the alert level along the border with Egypt.
Saturday morning saw four rockets fired from Gaza, hitting open areas in the Eshkol and Hof Ashkelon regional councils. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
The military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees claimed responsibility for three of the rockets fired into Israel in the morning hours.
IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Benny Gantz summoned top army officials to evaluate the security situation as rockets continued to bombard southern communities Friday.
Around 10 pm, three rockets exploded in open areas near Sderot and in the Eshkol and Hof Ashkelon regional councils, bringing the total of rockets fired into Israel on Friday to a total of 12.
The rockets were fired several hours after Israel Air Force jets attacked a terror target in the southern Gaza Strip on Friday night. According to the Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson's Office, the target was accurately hit. No additional details were available.
