The Ministry of National Infrastructures announced Sunday that it will be changing its name to the Energy and Water Ministry.
The ministry explained that a recent survey it had commissioned found that the term "national infrastructures" was largely misunderstood by the public, which does not associate it with the water and energy fields.

The change is meant to "better reflect the ministry's authority and responsibilities," which focus mainly on Israel's energy, water, natural resources and infrastructure," a ministry statement said.
The ministry also overseas Israel Electric Corp, Israel Refineries, Mekorot – Israel's national water company, the Water Commission, the Institute for Oceanographic and Limnological Research (IOLR), the Quarries Rehabilitation Fund, the Geophysical Institute and the Geological Institute.
This is the second name change for the ministry: Until 1996 it was called the Energy Ministry. When Ariel Sharon was named its minister, he ordered to change the name to Ministry of National Infrastructures.
