

Military Intelligence chief Major-General Aviv Kochavi said Wednesday that the "radical axis is working to retain its power and as time goes by Iran and Hezbollah are boosting their efforts to aid the Assad regime."
Kochavi added that Iran and Hezbollah supply information, weapons and other means to Syrian President Bashar Assad. "It is possible that the winds of change carry an opportunity and a message but on the short to medium term the risks are climbing. We will have to prepare to a rising threat level," he said.

Last month, Syrian Vice President Farouk al-Sharaa thanked Iran for its consistent support of Syria. He said that Syria will not succumb to international pressure to downgrade relations with Tehran and noted the two nations were at the forefront of resistance to the "Zionist regime."
