IDF tanks opened fire on a terror cell operating east of the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza late Thursday night, Palestinian sources said.

Medical officials in the Hamas-ruled territory said two people who sustained moderate wounds in the Israeli attack were evacuated to a hospital in Deir el-Balah.
Army sources said soldiers manning an observation post spotted a number of Palestinians as they were attempting to plant bombs near the security fence separating Israel from the Strip.

The Israeli attack in Gaza Thursday night was the first in two weeks.
In late December the army launched two aerial strikes in the Strip, killing an Islamic Jihad terrorist and injuring other terrorists belonging to the terror group.
The injured Palestinians were part of a cell that planned to attack Israel from its border with Egypt.
The IDF said two of the cell's members died, while Palestinian sources claimed eight terrorists were injured but none were killed.
A Qassam rocket was fired from Gaza shortly after the second attack, but it landed in Palestinian territory.
