Coexistence wins at Zefat Academic College: Despite Arab-Jewish tensions in the northern town of Zefat in the past year, students at the local college proved that they believe in coexistence, voting for a united Arab-Jewish list in student elections.
Even though the college features an Arab majority, and although an all-Arab list ran in the elections, more than 50% of students opted to cast their votes for the mixed list.
Some 40% of students voted for the Arab-only list.
Members of the college were not surprised by the election results and noted that coexistence between Arabs and Jews is apparent in every class and school activity at the northern academic institute.
Local police forces undertook special preparations ahead of the elections, fearing possible violence, yet the vote proceeded without an incident.
