$70M allotted for 2012 recycling ventures
Environmental Protection Ministry grants multi-million dollar budget to private entrepreneurs, cities; program to see construction of 20 new recycling facilities
The Environmental Protection Ministry has granted NIS 250 million (about $70 million) to private entrepreneurs and local authorities to promote the construction of recycling centers, Ynet learned.
According to a ministry statement, the funds are meant to facilitate the construction of 20 organic waste treatment centers across Israel.

The ministry said that in total, some NIS 600 million (about $165 million) will be invested in recycling and waste-to-energy facilities over the next three years.
The Environmental Protection Ministry will fund 40% of the endeavor and the remaining 60% will be funded by private entrepreneurs and local authorities.
The facilities are expected to treat some 8,000 tons of waste a day – about two-thirds of the quantity of municipal waste generated in Israel.
