A 7-year-old girl who fell into the Modiin stream near the village of Naalin amid stormy weather died on Friday. The girl, who was rescued from the water by firefighters and United Hatzalah volunteers, was taken to the Chaim Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer.
She arrived at the hospital unconscious and suffering from contusions and hypothermia. Resuscitation efforts ultimately failed and doctors were forced to pronounce her dead.

Hospital officials said the girl arrived without a pulse and with a very low body temperature.
An initial police investigation suggests that the girl took a walk with her father near the stream which had overflowed to the extent it almost reached houses in Kiryat Sefer.

At one point the father lost touch with his daughter and called rescue forces. The girl had apparently fallen into the stream. She was later pulled out by a firefighter.
"After scanning the area for about an hour and a half we saw a figure under the water wearing clothes which matched the description we received," one of the volunteers said. "One of the firefighters jumped in the water and pulled the girl out."
The volunteer added that after some resuscitation efforts the girl was taken by a police helicopter to the Chaim Sheba Medical Center.
