Barak: Sale of my apartment was inevitable

Defense Minister Ehud Barak responded to reports of the sale of his Akirov Towers apartment in Tel Aviv for NIS 26.5 million on Sunday. "The sale was inevitable, this place of residence created a sense of alienation and detachment from the public. We have decided to move to a smaller and less expensive apartment," Barak wrote on his Facebook page.

He added, "I didn't grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth. After leaving my post as prime minister I turned to the private sector and worked hard to earn what I own. I have always paid my taxes as a law abiding citizen." (Ynet)
