As part of the investigation, ITA officers raided Rabbi Abuchatzeira's home in Ashdod and documents seized in the raid led to the conclusion that he failed to file accurate tax returns between 2003 and 2009.
According to the Tax Authority, the rabbi was questioned by ITA officials but refused to cooperate. His associates denied the report, saying "the rabbi has lent investigators his full cooperation and will continue to do so."
The Tax Authority's investigation was launched in 2010 and is still ongoing.
