'Use of human bodies in exhibition problematic'
Court rules 'Bodies' exhibit has moral implications, postpones discussion on petition demanding its shutdown
The "Bodies" exhibition has moral implications, the High Court of Justice ruled on Wednesday.
Discussing a petition against the exhibition, the court stressed that matters must be reviewed from a consumer's perspective and postponed the debate pending a response from the exhibit's producers.
The exhibition features preserved human bodies and body parts with emphasis on the physiological and biological aspects of human life. "On the surface, it appears that the way the bodies have been used is problematic and has moral implications," justices Edna Arbel, Hanan Meltzer and Uri Shoham ruled.
Nevertheless, they decided to postpone the debate seeing as this was not a case of criminal nature and taking into account the state's stance.
The petition was filed by Attorney David Schoenberg against the Attorney General, police commissioner, deputy health minister and the exhibition's producers.
