
Four people, including an 18-month-old girl, were killed Wednesday afternoon when an IDF van and a civilian car crashed on Highway 31 in the northern Negev. Four soldiers were also injured, one seriously.
The seriously-injured soldier was taken by helicopter to the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, while the other three – listed as lightly to moderately injured – were transported to Beersheba by ambulance for medical treatment.

An initial investigation into the accident has determined that the IDF vehicle and the second car hit each other head-on. The cause and circumstances of the collision were still unknown.

Negev District Traffic Police Supt. Yuval Paz confirmed that "two vehicles collided head-on in an open stretch of Highway 31."
Paz said that two months ago, another fatal collision occurred a kilometer from the location of Wednesday's crash. "The road is being widened, at too heavy a toll," he said.
