'Elmo' goes on anti-Semitic rant in Central Park

Before being removed by police, man dressed up as Sesame Street character asks bystanders to read Henry Ford's 'The International Jew'

A man dressed in an Elmo costume was removed from New York's Central Park on Monday after going on an anti-Semitic rant.

Videos of the costumed Elmo’s anti-Semitic rant show him directing bystanders to read "The International Jew" by Henry Ford, the automobile manufacturer who was known for his anti-Semitic views.

Police said the incident was not the first time the man, whose name was not released, had dressed as the Sesame Street character and gone on a racial rant.

In one video, a parent is seen saying to the costumed man "get a real job, you're irritating kids.''

The man responded: "I'm not making money because the Jewish cops have got to keep harassing me! That’s why I’m doing it and that’s why I want people to read 'The International Jew,' because if you start your business in this city, Jews will harass you.”

The man was eventually removed from the park by police and taken by ambulance to New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

According to reports, the man was handcuffed at the scene, but he was not arrested.
