Yesh Atid party chairman Yair Lapid called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to dissolve the Knesset and declare early elections immediately.
Lapid made the statement shortly before Kadima chairman Shaul Mofaz called on his faction to quit the coalition. "We are ready for elections and it's time to rid Israel of this bad government," Lapid said.

Former Kadima member Haim Ramon, who left the party after Shaul Mofaz was elected chairman, said "Unfortunately, everything I warned about two months ago and everything I expected to happen, happened.
"Netanyahu's allies are the haredim and the settlers. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding himself and the public. This move has brought on Kadima's demise and Shaul Mofaz is the one accountable," Ramon said.
Kadima MK Nino Abesadze welcomed Mofaz's decision. "It is better to faithfully serve the public as a combative opposition. I call for early elections," she said.
