Disappointing first day for Israelis at Olympics
Swimmers Nevo, Ganiel and Ivri fail to make semi-finals; judoka Arshansky loses second round of men's -60kg event

LONDON – The Israeli mission to the London Olympics had a disappointing first day Saturday, as none of the athletes competing were able to make it to any of the semi-finals.

Israeli judoka Tommy Arshansky lost to Japan's Hiroaki Hiraoka in the second round of the Olympic men's Judo under-60kg event, effectively ending his run in the Games.
