Singapore offered its annual Environment and Water Awards on Friday, honoring 19 individuals and organizations for their efforts and achievements in the area of environmental and water resource sustainability and conservation, AsiaOne reported. This was the seventh year of the awards, which were instated in 2006. Three organizations – HSBC Singapore, Marsiling Secondary School and Panasonic Asia Pacific Pte – were awarded the President’s Award for the Environment – the southeastern Asian nation's highest environmental accolade. Singapore President Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam presented their chairmen with the award personally. Grace Fu, second minister for the Environment and Water Resources and second minister for Foreign Affairs presented four individual and organizational recipients with the National Water Agency's Watermark Award, and 12 people were named the recipients of the National Environment Agency's EcoFriend Awards.
