A Modi'in resident was assaulted by six Arab youths in east Jerusalem on Thursday. The victim sustained light wounds during the attack, Yedioth Ahronoth reported.
Meir Danino, 59, was driving to the Mount of Olives Jewish cemetery in order to visit the grave of Rabbi Elazar Abuhatzeira when the assault occurred.
"On my way to the grave, I hit some traffic and all of a sudden my car was pelted with stones. My windshield broke. I looked around and saw five or six Arab teens surrounding the car, kicking and screaming," Danino said.
"I immediately locked the car, took cover and prayed to God. It felt as though I was being lynched," he added.
The youths then attacked the car and attempted to extract Danino from it. After several minutes, the traffic jam opened up and Danino sped away from the scene toward the closest police station.
In the back seat of Danino's car were his grandchildren's baby booster seats along with glass and rocks.
"Thank God I was on my own," Danino said.
The attack on Danino's vehicle is not uncommon. Tensions in east Jerusalem are high and weekly reports of Arabs assaulting Jewish cemetery visitors are prevalent. On several occasions, Jewish tombstones and gravesites have been vandalized by unknown assailants.
