The government has recently approved a NIS 1 million (about $260,000) grant to four Israeli plants that have pledged to convert their utility systems from electricity to natural gas. The grants were given out of a special, NIS 120 million ($31 million) fund formed by the Treasury, the Energy and Water Ministry and the Labor, Trade and Industry Ministry. The grants are meant to cover the costs of conversion process, such as rewiring, laying specialty pipes, purchasing the necessary equipment or adapting existing one, installing the necessary monitoring systems and providing employee training.
