A massive fire broke out in a paint manufacturing facility in Netanya Monday.
Eight firefighting teams were called to the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
The Fire and Rescue Services' Hazardous Materials Unit was also called to the scene to assist the firefighting teams.
Large amounts of paint and paint thinner were spilled around the factory. Police forces closed the surrounding area's roads, and serious gridlock has been noted.
Sources in the Fire Department said that the teams on the ground are concerned that the flames may reach a nearby pharmaceuticals production site, thus increasing the risks of a hazardous material spill.
Eyewitnesses described black pillars of smoke towering over the area, as well as an acerbic chemical smell.
The police and fire marshals have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the fire.
