The Italian music festival, held annually since 1951, served as the inspiration for the Eurovision Song Contest and has exposed various Italian talents to the world, including Eros Ramazzotti and Andrea Bocelli.
Avidan has been embraced and praised by the Italian media following his latest concert tour in the country.
According to local reports, the Sanremo festival's host, Fabio Fazio, was exposed to the Israeli singer's work and talent thanks to his co-host on successful television programs, Roberto Saviano, the author of the best-seller "Gomorrah."
Italian fashion designers are already competing for the right to design Avidan's outfit for his festival performance.
Avidan is expected to perform his hit "Reckoning Song," accompanied by a full orchestra for the very first time. The song's video has been viewed by millions of people on YouTube.
