A soldier tried to set himself on fire on Sunday morning at the Kirya military base in Tel Aviv. According to other soldiers present at the scene, he also tried to set fire to his commander, standing nearby.

The soldier attempted self immolation at an early morning hour while the large base was teeming with soldiers, who quickly restrained him before he could carry out his plan.
Uninjured, he was then arrested by Military Police.
In his interrogation the soldier claimed his actions were due to rejection of his requests for home leave.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated the incident is under investigation.
