According to an initial investigation, more than 10 people were celebrating the Second Passover in the apartment at the time of the attack. Chief Superintendent Noam Shekel, the commander of the Ashdod police station, said the apartment was "full of blood" when officers arrived, adding that the suspect's father was lying on the bed with a number of injuries from a cold weapon.

Pinchas Sassonker, a neighbor, said he heard screams from the apartment. "I heard someone yell 'No, don't do it!' I am not familiar with the family's background. I live above them."
MDA spokesperson Zaki Heller said paramedics who arrived at the scene "found three people who had been stabbed, including a man in critical condition with stab wounds to the upper body. Following numerous resuscitation attempts, they were forced to pronounce him dead."
On Sunday an indictment was filed against 81-year-old Jerusalem resident Yitzhak Ben-Shitrit, who is charged with murdering his wife with kitchen knives and a meat mallet.
According to the indictment, in the past few months Ben-Shitrit began accusing his wife Mazal (79) of not tending to his needs, disrespecting him and hiding money from him.
