Both the woman, who sustained stab injuries to her back, and the man were evacuated to the Edith Wolfson Medical Center in Holon.
Chief Inspector Guy Amar, the officer who shot the suspect, said "I tried to go in to calm things down, but saw it wasn’t working. The woman was yelling from inside the house, crying out 'he's going to stab me.' I saw him with a knife over her. He was standing behind her but I managed to see a part of him – and shot in the direction of his shoulder, so as to neutralize him, and then fired another shot at his knee so as to keep him away from her."
Ayalon Police Chief Commander Yehuda Dahan, said that "in order to save a life we had to shoot. It was justified."
According to the MDA paramedics who tended to the couple, "The two were very upset. We gave the man medical treatment and evacuated him to the hospital. His wife had stab wounds to the back. Her injuries were light, and she was also evacuated to the hospital."
