"I know it's hot," one of them said, "but the base has been infested with cockroaches for so long that they've made it to the kitchen and near our food. There's no reason why we should ask our parents to bring us food from home or that we buy food in the canteen."
"In other bases, where there are senior officers, no kitchen sergeant would let this happen. The kitchen would be closed immediately," another soldier in the base said.
According to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, "over the past few weeks, the base has underwent pesticide, which is expected to continue until all pests are removed. Medical personnel in the command have tended to the phenomenon and will continue to look after it so as to prevent sanitation risks to the soldiers."
