Convicted sex offender, released from prison two years ago, arrested for sending nude photos to girls

A convicted sex offender, 30, suspected of sending nude photos of himself to 10-year-old girls, was arrested Monday. He is to attend a remand hearing on Tuesday.

The suspect, residing in the Golan Heights, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for similar offenses, and was released from prison some two years ago. Following release, he was placed under close supervision of the Israel Prison Service and his internet access was limited.

Several months ago, police received complaints from parents of the girls, noting that the suspect had been sending sexually explicit messages and photos, via Facebook.

A police investigation revealed that the IP address from which the messages were sent belonged to the suspect's neighbor.

In a police questioning, the neighbor insisted he had nothing to do with the case. "We realized the suspect was connecting to the neighbor's wireless network and sending the pictures and text to the girls," Superintendent Aryeh Alkobi told Ynet.

The computer from which the materials were sent was confiscated and sent to a police lab.
