Ben-Gurion Airport to offer luggage storage lockers
Israel Airports Authority issues bid for secured compartments where passengers will be able to store their suitcases, handbags and private items for a limited period of time; each compartment will include a power outlet for charging cell phones, tablets and laptops.
The new facility will allow passengers to store their suitcases, handbags and prams in secured lockers for a limited period of time and pay with credit cards or cash.
According to the plan, the lockers won't be installed in the main passenger terminal, Terminal 3, but in an isolated area near the parking lots – for security reasons. The area will be secured with around-the-clock camera surveillance.
According to the terms and conditions of the bid, the facility will include three types of lockers:
Large ones for suitcases, medium-sized ones for handbags and soldiers' bags, and small compartments for backpacks, coats and different items.
A central payment unit will be located nearby, and the lockers' doors will be secured against burglaries and vandalism with an electronic lock using a touch screen. In addition, each compartment will include a power outlet for charging cell phones, tablets and laptops.
