Moshe Ya'alon—looking fetch

Not so Uniq(lo)

On Wednesdays, we wear puffer jackets; a new trend is developing amongst the country's top politicians, which was begun by Moshe Ya'alon—who doesn't even go here anymore.

It used to be the military jacket with a fur collar. Then the leather jacket took its place. And now politicians heading out into the field have a new fashion choice: the light down puffer jacket by Japanese company Uniqlo.

The fashion leader of this new trend was former Minister of Defense Moshe Ya'alon, who would sport it in military field tours and even wore it on the floor of the Knesset.

Ya'alon was followed by Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan, who would don the garment when participating in police patrols.

Following him was Minister Tzachi Hanegbi, who was criticized by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier in the month for wearing it with jeans to a Likud faction meeting.

And despite his rebuke, Netanyahu himself became the fourth to wear such a jacket himself—almost. Netanyahu wore an American black puffer jacket when touring areas in the North damaged by the fires. And while Uniqlo's version costs $70, the prime minister's Mountain Hardwear version costs $190.
