Do you know English better than an Israeli high-schooler?
160,000 students attended the English matriculation exam at three levels—beginner, intermediate, and advanced; English coordinator in Ankori school: 'The students were given fair questions. Those who studied and were concentrating on the exam were not likely to encounter difficulty.'
A total of 160,000 11th and 12th graders from 1,100 educational institutions took the English matriculation exam in beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. The first exam began at 1:00pm and the last test began at 5:00pm. The matriculation exam in English included 21 questionnaires, including a listening comprehension segment that was broadcast on the various radio stations.
In recent months, Minister of Education Naftali Bennett addressed the subject of the level of English studies in the education system and declared that the ministry is formulating a national program designed to strengthen the profession. The program includes, among other things, reinforcement of the spoken language, strengthening and professionalization of the field of instruction, increasing the number of students who take the advanced level of study and accessibility of English studies through online learning. The program is supposed to be implemented in schools at the beginning of the next school year.

"The students who took the exam today were given fair questions that were adapted to the various levels of study, and I think that those who studied during the course of the year and were focused during the exam should not have encountered any special difficulty," said Noa Elshvili, English Coordinator at Ankori.
