Likud MK Begin: 'There's a new value in the party, loyalty to the leader. It's complete nonsense'

Likud MK Benny Begin criticized party leader Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, saying loyalty to the leader was not a value the movement should hold above all.

"Recently, I've been hearing that among the Likud's values there is a new one called 'loyalty to the leader.' I've been hearing this from the top echelons of the Likud as well. I've never heard of such a value. I think it's completely new and also complete nonsense and ridiculous," Begin told Army Radio.

Begin, the son of former Likud leader and prime minister Menachem Begin, explained why he had missed two Likud rallies this month, including a rally on Wednesday, which Netanyahu used to attack the Left and the media.

According to Begin, "Tying the identity of the chairman of the party to the party's identity and the things and values that matter to it is not something I'm familiar with, which is why I decided not to take part in these two rallies."
