Israel gets first major rainfall of the season
The fall is finally upon us as cities across Israel report everything from a drizzle to a downpour; the rainy forecast did not deter Israelis, though, as some 45,000 went out into nature.
Israel experienced the first major rainfall of the season on Sunday afternoon, with several areas, particularly in the center, reporting everything from a drizzle to a downpour.
Tel Aviv, Holon, Rishon Lezion and the northern city of Haifa have all reported precipitation.
The day started out warmer and drier, however, prompting some 45,000 Israelis to travel to nature reserves and national parks.
Among the popular destinations were the national parks Caesarea, Herodion, Zippori and Yarkon. Gush Etzion was also among the more visited places.
The rain and colder weather are expected to continue throughout the afternoon and evening Sunday.
